Despite the threat of a downpour, thousands of people filled the streets of Downtown Rahway for
Hot Rods and Harleys this weekend. Hot custom bikes filled the Rahway Train Station Plaza, and the classic cars and hot rods lined the closed-to-traffic streets of downtown. And of course, the weather held throughout the day.
"I think it’s great, how many people came out even though they thought it would be a rainout. Seeing the streets of Downtown Rahway filled with people, families, it’s just a wonderful event," said Tom McTamney of the Rahway Center Partnership. Live music from five different bands filled the area, and people roamed the streets.
And it wasn’t just for the grown-ups! There was a "kids only" section featuring a bouncy house and all kinds of fun for the little ones. The vendors lined the streets, and the aromas of all the tasty treats available drifted all over town. The local restaurants and taverns took to the sidewalks, giving people a small sample of what they had to offer.
