The Best Aprilia RSV4 2011

Pricing and availability have yet to be announced, though we expect it to be This special . Tricolour. livery as they call it is symbolic of the Italian flag and pays tribute to Max Biaggi and his recent world championship aboard the machine. Rounding out the changes is a slightly updated paint scheme, featuring the traditional Aprilia black/red but with an added green and white accent to the lower. A new 200/55-17 rear tire has been specially designed for the RSV4 APRC by fellow Italians Pirelli, featuring a dual compound design aimed to give riders a capable tire for both aggressive street and track use. Internal gear ratios are also, optimized for track use, likely meaning they are closer together and feature a taller first gear, though exact details have not yet been released, and produce slightly more power.

In terms of changes to the machine’s actual hardware, the RSV4 SE keeps the same 65-degree V-Four powerplant as the previous Factory model, though it now features a new exhaust that is claimed to be lighter 2011 Aprilia RSV4 APRC SE A new exhaust system is both lighter and produces more power, while Aprilia and Pirelli have teamed up to develop a new dual-compound 200/55-17 rear tire designed specifically for the RSV4 APRC SE.  Because Aprilia realizes that this machine is designed for the track as much as it is the street, the instrument cluster features two totally different settings, Road and Race, allowing the rider to toggle between two optimal setups, one for each environment, with a simple push of a button.

The New Aprilia RSV4 2011

This technology has only been seen on top level racebikes for the past few years, so to have it available on a street legal production machine this quickly is quite remarkable. The system is armed when the rider squeezes both traction control buttons on the left handlebar when at a complete stop and it features three different settings that, like the rest of the bike's systems, can be adjusted independently each other. A first for a production sportbike of any kind, the launch control system allows the rider to essentially pin the throttle and let out the clutch with haste while the engine management controls the rest with the aim of getting the best possible launch.
The RSV4 has three different APW (Aprilia Wheelie Control) and APL (Aprilia Launch Control) modes as well, while the new Special Edition machine also gets a quick shifter as standard to allow for full throttle up shifts with a simple dab of the left foot. The launch control is a first for any production sportbike.  The mode selector on the left handlebar controls the traction, wheelie and launch control features on the new Italian V-Four.

2011 Aprilia RSV4 Factory APRC SE First Look

The system can also be adjusted on the fly via a toggle on the left handlebar and does so instantaneously, giving the rider the ability to use multiple different settings during a single lap if so desired. The sophisticated system runs in conjunction with the ride-by-wire throttle that the RSV4 Factory already has as standard to not only be able to reduce torque when the rear wheel spins but also let the rider control the exact amount of rear tire slippage on corner exit. This advanced electronics system features eight different traction control settings and is called ATC (Aprilia Traction Control). It's a self adjusting electronics system that utilizes wheel speed sensors and a host of other parameters to provide the rider with wheelie control, launch control and variable traction control that is able to adapt to different types of tires basically, it’s the TC system off of Max Biaggi’s world beating World Superbike, just adapted for street use.

And what does it do? Aprilia Performance Ride Control. So what does APRC stand for?  The boys from Noale, Italy, are back at it once again, this time updating the World Championship winning RSV4 Factory with a host of new goodies for 2011, introducing a new top of the line model dubbed the Aprilia RSV4 Factory APRC SE.

Aprilia RSV 1000R 2011

The The benefits are obvious in terms of less physical and mental stress, faster and safer motorcycling and the ability to remain fully concentrated for far longer, factors that contribute to success on the racetrack and safety on the road. Because riders feel so instantly confident on an Aprilia RSV 1000 R, they really can ride at the limits of their abilities and stay totally relaxed too. But what counts the most is the fact that the Aprilia RSV 1000 R is still the bike to beat when it comes to ease of riding.

The Aprilia RSV 1000 R is determined to maintain its supremacy as the best sports twin money can buy, for its advanced technology and for its amazing performance. It has served as a valuable test bench for the latest technical solutions now appearing on Aprilia production bikes. Endurance racing has provided more than just an unforgettable experience. Legendary races like the Le Mans 24 hours and the massacring Bol d’Or 24 hours have shown exactly how effective the twin cylinder Aprilia RSV 1000 R is on the racetrack , and how totally reliable it is too. The Aprilia RSV 1000 R has shown its competitive edge in world endurance racing, where it is the only production twin able to compete on even terms with the best four cylinder machines in the world, as demonstrated by the excellent results achieved.

Competition may come and go, but the Aprilia RSV 1000 R remains the unquestioned top dog among supersport motorcycles for its amazing handling on road and racetrack.

Aprilia RSV 1000R Factory 2011

The Aprilia RSV 1000 R Factory was the fastest bike around ten out of twelve curves and the fastest in top speed at the end of six out of twelve straights. The Aprilia RSV 1000 R Factory did not just win, it dominated the final of the 2006 Master Bike, thanks to amazingly safe braking, rapid yet smooth and precise control when leaning into curves, excellent rear wheel feel under acceleration and, last but not least, a final drive gear ratio specially calculated for effective racing.
This year's Master Bike has scientifically and conclusively demonstrated that the Aprilia RSV 1000 R Factory is the most efficient winning machine on the racetrack. It is also the first non-Japanese bike to dominate the final points table, and the most impressive V twin in the competition.
The RSV 1000 R Factory is the best twin cylinder supersport that money can buy. Its updated V60 Magnesium engine and new chassis combine with special, ultra-light materials and the best components in the world to ensure absolute excellence on the track. The Aprilia RSV 1000 R Factory is the utmost expression of Aprilia's technological and sporting heritage.
Here is a bike designed for those who demand maximum performance on the track. Yet, like all previous RSV 1000 R models, the new Factory still sells at a surprisingly low price. Just like its predecessors, the new Factory brings you the best motorcycle technology in the world at a rock bottom price. Nowhere else will you find this level of equipment for such a low outlay.

The Factory is an RSV 1000 R that has been pushed beyond the excellence barrier, cleverly modified and equipped with only superlative components.

Aprilia Shiver 750 ABS 2010

Perhaps Aprilia is waiting to wow us with a Shiver Factory that employs fully adjustable suspension (like on the 2010 Aprilia Shiver 750 ABS ), even still were not It will also feature the same limited suspension adjustments found on the forks and rear-shock. Aside from these cosemetic changes, the 2010 Shiver will feature the same motor and electronics package. Maybe at best a couple pounds. Although certain parts of the bike look to be re-tooled for weight, the passenger pegs for example, we can’t see a significant weight savings coming from this process.

Although the 2010 Shiver sits about an inch and a half lower than the 2009 model, there seems to be little indication that the bike has gone on any sort of any weight reduction. Hence, the result we see above, and below in the photo gallery. The conclusion they reached was the bike’s looks, and not its anemic powerplant and over-weight chassis. Allegedly, Aprilia marketing went back to the conference to figure out why the Shiver wasn’t selling as well as had been hoped.

Despite the tastefully done facelift, the feature we wanted the most was a diet for this 417lb (dry), but otherwise perfect daily rider. Obvious changes are the sportier look that includes a fairing around the dash mounting, as well as wave disc-brakes fore and aft.  Making it a 2 for 2 Saturday, we have also gotten some leaked photos of the 2010 Aprilia Shiver, and it looks like the new Shiver carries with it the same disappointment we had with the 2010 Aprilia Shiver 750 ABS.

Piaggio Recalls 2010 Aprilia RSV4 to Replace Engines

Piaggio is recalling certain model year 2010 Aprilia RSV4 "Factory" and RSV4 "R" motorcycles manufactured between July 2, 2009, and October 30, 2009.

In manufacturing the connecting rods, a process was used to straighten the rod in order to meet specifications. This process introduced stresses into the rods which greatly affected strength and reliability.

335 units are affected.

Check out my Motorcycle Recalls feature for more details.

Aprilia SXV 2009 is receiving a revised swingarm and ergonomics, as well as some new graphics. That swingarm is now made with a cast aluminum body and hydroformed members, meaning it’s both lighter and more flexible; better for traction and stability over rough ground. The seat height is also lowered 5mm thanks to a new, lighter rear subframe. Our favorite change is the simple, bold graphics that reflect Aprilia's new graphic design language. Click through for full details and more images.

- Swingarm: lighter and more flexible thanks to a cast body and hydroformed members
- Exhaust: now 2009 FIM regulation-compliant.
- Rear brake caliper: lighter and more compact.
- Fuel system: new ECU and stepper motor throttle body. Easier starting, reduced weight and smoother power delivery.
- Rear subframe: simpler and lighter with a 5mm lower seat height.
- Overall weight: reduced 2kg
- Wheels: black.
