Save Gas on Your Commute - Commuting With Motorcycles

Who wouldn't jump at an opportunity to save some extra dough, along with being able to rush the downtown traffic, with a two-wheeler, "adrenaline rush". Of course, that's the sales patter of any motorcycle salesman, trying to sell his first bike of the day and to sell you the feeling of getting your hands on the throttle and outfitting yourself with some leather, like a jacket.
Before, we write that check for your new two wheeler maybe we should look at some facts and separate the wheat from the chaff like can a car commuter really save money by switching to a motorcycle? First of all we would have to invest quite a sum of money in a suitable motorcycle to be able to be weaving through that heavy traffic. Also, consider if you will you be able to give up your car completely because of restrictions due to weather or extra luggage carrying needs and especially if your are a family man.
We forget about the up front cost in taking up this money saving plan, of course, the cost of a new bike is your biggest expense but then your best deal would be to buy a used motorcycle after it is checked out by a trusted mechanic. But still you will have repairs to make to get it ready for daily commutes and for items that just wear out sooner on a used bike and will have to be replaced.
Now! you do not want to be sitting at every stop light with everyone pulling away from you so you will be needing a bike with a bit of power to lift you along. However, that power takes extra gas and away goes your savings unless you are really serious and decide on a scooter as their cost and fuel economy are hard to beat. Actually you will have a lot of work for yourself to find the most efficient safe mode of transportation for money saving commuting.
It's a tough decision to change for money saving alone as you have a lot of variables to consider in going to a motorcycle for commuting. If you keep a four wheel vehicle then you have the extra insurance for both vehicles and as far as minor repairs and replacement parts, are you mechanically inclined so that you would be able to fix it yourself. We think this is a a big decision for the person that wants to make the move as in a lot of cases it is not cheaper to commute with a motorcycle but it's up to the preference of the individual.
